SINCE 2012
Our story is one woven with perserverence, dedication and a passion for selfless service.
Apocalypse Sports was founded by Josh Burns, a 22-year Army veteran who has completed multiple deployments to the Middle East and Central America. The company began in 2012 when Josh started helping friends with their firearms as a hobby in his kitchen. This passion led him to transform an old 2,000-square-foot lumber business building into Apocalypse Sports’ first brick-and-mortar location, which opened in 2017.
Unexpectedly, the business experienced rapid growth and success, supported by a loyal customer base. By 2024, Apocalypse Sports completed construction on a new 22,000-square-foot facility that includes retail space, warehousing, and an indoor shooting range.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.

I saw them on gunbroker and reached out about a price on a gun that I've wanted for about 8 years. They emailed back right away and gave me a hell of a deal! Like, there was no way I could pass it up kind of thing. I saved a lot and they made me so thrilled! It shipped fast, great condition, and the two people I was in contact were amazing. Once I recover from buying ANOTHER gun in a short time spam I'll for sure be checking them out again. Big bore, stupid wrist breaker! I LOVE THIS MONSTER!!! You can't tell but I have large hands. This gun just dwarfs my hand! They sell great quality! Thank you for such great service and getting me a bucket list item.Posted on Google Kim MerazJuly 21, 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 61. First time shooter that left a first time buyer. I was told by a few people that this is the place to go if you are a newbie and they did not disappoint. I went in for my birthday to do something memorable and special for myself. I was a little nervous to go in but that quickly went away. I was greeted as soon as I came through the door and paired with Ivan. He was incredible. He was patient and took the time to show me several options and offered a chance to use the range to test them out. I've never used a firearm and was worried that I would be a bother but he took the time to go in with me, explain the basics and give some pointers along the way. I enjoyed myself and believe that I may have found a new hobby that is not only fun but benefits me and my family when it comes to safety. I plan on going back soon for some classes and who knows... maybe another to start a collection??? Thank you Ivan and Apocalypse Sports for making my day! You have me as a returning customer for sure!Posted on Google Megan KimJuly 15, 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The range and store are always well lite and clean but the staff isn't as welcoming as staff at other rangesPosted on Google Darrius VicksJuly 14, 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I recently visited Apocalypse Sports in Ponchatoula, and I have mixed feelings about my experience. First, I want to say the store itself is very nice. It’s clean, well-organized, and has an impressive selection of firearms and accessories. The staff was courteous, and it’s clear they’ve invested a lot into creating an attractive retail location. My biggest concern is the pricing. In my opinion, many of the firearms and components are priced significantly above current market value. For example, I saw upper receivers selling for around $2,100, which I personally found difficult to justify. I completely understand that every business has overhead and needs to make a profit, especially when expanding or moving into a new building. However, I don’t believe those costs should be passed on through pricing that feels substantially higher than what many competitors charge. As someone who is very knowledgeable about firearms, their operation, and their practical use, I evaluate products based on quality, reliability, and performance—not just the name engraved on the receiver. Premium brands can certainly offer benefits such as better quality control, fit and finish, warranties, or resale value. However, a well-built mil-spec 5.56 or .308 platform is still highly capable of performing its intended purpose. A higher price tag or a more recognizable brand name doesn’t automatically make a firearm the best value for every customer. Another factor to consider is that many of the parts and accessories sold in the store can also be purchased online, often at considerably lower prices, and shipped directly to your home where legally permitted. Even for complete firearms or serialized lower receivers that must be shipped to a licensed dealer for transfer, I’ve found that ordering online and paying a local FFL transfer fee can still save hundreds of dollars compared to some of the prices I observed in the store. At the end of the day, competitive pricing, transparency, and excellent customer service are what build long-term customer loyalty. Apocalypse Sports has the potential to be one of the premier firearm retailers in the area, but I believe a more competitive pricing strategy would better serve both the business and its customers. Overall, it’s a great-looking store with a solid inventory, but based on my experience, the pricing was difficult to justify when compared with other local dealers and reputable online retailers.

Thank you for visiting our shop and for taking the time to leave your feedback. We appreciate every customer who gives us the opportunity to earn their business. We do carry a wide range of firearms, uppers, optics, and accessories because every customer has different preferences, budgets, and intended uses. While you referenced a $2,100 upper receiver, we also stock complete uppers starting around $399, which unfortunately wasn't mentioned in your review. The upper you referenced is the HK MR556 piston-driven upper, which is considered a premium product and is currently one of the most sought after options in its category. While it certainly isn't the right choice for every customer, there is a strong market for those specifically looking for HK products and their reputation for quality. One point that may not be widely understood is that many premium firearm manufacturers have Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policies. These policies establish the lowest price dealers are permitted to advertise. Selling or advertising below those prices can jeopardize a dealer's relationship with the manufacturer. This applies to many premium firearms, parts, and accessories, so the advertised pricing is often determined by the manufacturer not by the dealer. Another common misconception is that firearm retailers have large profit margins. In reality, most firearms and premium components carry relatively modest margins, often in the 10–20% range. Our goal is not to maximize markup but to provide a broad selection that serves everyone from first time buyers looking for an affordable option to enthusiasts seeking premium brands like HK, Daniel Defense, or Sons of Liberty Gun Works. You're also correct that many products can sometimes be found online for less. Large online retailers often benefit from significantly greater buying power and lower operating costs than locally owned businesses. We do our best to remain competitive while also providing the advantages of shopping locally. Being able to see products in person, receive knowledgeable guidance, get immediate availability, and have local support after the sale. Ultimately, we believe customers should have choices. Whether someone is looking for a dependable $399 upper or a premium HK, Daniel Defense, or Sons of Liberty product, we strive to carry options across the price spectrum so every customer can find something that fits both their needs and their budget. Thank you again for your feedback. We sincerely appreciate it and will continue working to provide excellent service and a wide selection for our community.Posted on Google Lance ToupsJuly 11, 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Went in to purchase a firearm through Glock’s Blue Label Program. Logan was terrific. He was CCing the exact same firearm I was purchasing. So my questions on if it printed under clothing were immediately answered. He also caught me up on all Glock’s upgrades in the new Gen. 6. Very knowledgeable and down to earth guy. Great job. My new gun store.
